Characteristics and application of PTFE composite membrane and PU composite membrane
2022-12-01Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) composite fabric is a high-performance fabric with waterproof, moisture permeability and wind resistance. The morphology and structure of the microporous PTFE film is easily polluted by dust and grease in sweat, blocking the micropores, and has poor deformation recovery. It is a substitute for Core-tex waterproof and moisture permeable fabric.
The second generation of Core-tex waterproof and moisture permeable fabric is coated with hydrophilic and oil-repellent polyurethane (PU) waterproof and moisture permeable coating on one side of the water-repellent PTFE film. This layer of hydrophilic layer prevents the pollution of microporous membrane and keeps the waterproof and moisture permeability of the core-tex fabric for a longer time. The disadvantage is that the moisture permeability of the fabric has decreased.
PTFE composite film and various fabrics are used as follows:
Anti-cold clothing fabric: such as anti-cold clothing, polar protective clothing, sand touch protective clothing, and harsh weather protective clothing.
Fabric of special protective clothing: fire protection clothing, anti-biochemical clothing, immersion work clothing, cold-proof and anti-immersion clothing, pesticide work protective clothing, acid-base protective clothing, surgical clothing, etc.
Sports clothing: mountaineering clothes, running clothes, golf clothes, ski clothes, fishing clothes, hunting clothes, etc.
Shoes, hats, gloves, sleeping bags, tents, rain gear, etc.
PU composite membrane
The moisture permeability principle of PU composite film, namely thermoplastic hydrophilic polyurethane film, is that the hydrophilic chain segment absorbs the moisture emitted by human body temperature, rapidly diffuses the moisture from the inside to the outside (that is, from high pressure to low pressure) through the movement of the hydrophilic chain segment, and then evaporates the moisture from the outside atmosphere. That is, using the special molecular structure of thermoplastic polyurethane, water molecules are transferred out one by one by hydrophilic groups to achieve the purpose of high moisture permeability. Secondly, because it has no holes on its surface, its rain, wind and snow cannot penetrate, and its general water pressure resistance can reach 9.8 × Above 104 Pa (10000mm H2O). TPU is washable, low temperature resistant to - 30 ℃, light and soft, and is an ideal laminated film material with low price (compared with PTFE film).
PU composite film is green and environmentally friendly, with excellent air and moisture permeability; Absolute waterproof, anti-blood stain and anti-bacterial; Windproof, cold resistant, fluffy and smooth; Durability, super water splashing finish; It is easy to decontaminate and clean, and can be washed normally.
Applicable scope of PU composite film: field military uniform, fire protection, military special clothing; Protective articles, military tents, sleeping bags and postal bags; Sports clothes for mountaineering, skiing, golf, etc; Materials for shoes and hats, bags, blackout curtains, and anti-ultraviolet umbrella cloth; Rain-proof and breathable poncho and casual windbreaker; Medical insurance supplies.

It is suitable for fitting different fabrics such as knitted, woven and non-woven fabrics. The most TPU composite fabrics made on the market are:
Four-sided shell+TPU+fleece, which is often called SoftShell. Four-sided bullets are mainly 75D (for women's wear) and 100D (for men's wear), and fleece is mainly 75D/72F and 100D/144F. There are many styles, such as plain, twill, check, etc. Because of its water resistance, moisture permeability, wind resistance and warmth preservation, the scope of use is now not limited to ordinary outdoor sports clothing, and many large foreign companies use it as their employees' work clothes.
Chemical fiber woven fabric+TPU+Tricot (polyester warp knitted mesh). Woven fabrics mainly include Chunya Textile, Taslon, Oxford Cloth, Peach Skin Velvet, Nisi Textile, etc. Ordinary fabrics such as 228T Taslon can be used as the main fabric of the assault suit; The nylon camouflage printed fabric can be used as military clothing; Fluorescent fabrics can be used for police uniforms and other work clothes;
Microporous PU composite membrane has good permeability.
PU composite membrane with hydrophilic and microporous properties can combine the advantages of both
The composite membrane combined with PTFE and TPU can overcome some weaknesses of PTFE.
Various extension products of PTFE composite film, TPU composite film, PU composite film, colored, colorless, color film, etc.
